The Moving Finger is also the name of a book by Agatha Christie. In the book, Jerry and Joanna Burton, a brother and sister from London, move to the small village of Lymstock so Jerry can recover from injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash. People in the village start receiving anonymous letters, each one accusing the recipient of the most scandalous deeds. One recipient dies in an apparent suicide. Jerry gets involved trying to help.
