“The West” (1996) is a series of nine tapes, which describe the history of the American West. It shows the battle of the Native Americans and the Europeans for land. The Europeans claim many victories and settle on the Native American soil. This film shows not only the school-taught European side of the story, but also the dwindling Native Americans’ point of view. This documentary explores cultural racism against the Native Americans as well as the need for more land for the incoming immigrants. What is shown here are the usually unexplored facts of both cultures through battles for the western land. |
