In The Sins of the Wolf, Hester Latterly, a nurse and friend of William Monk, is hired to escort an elderly woman from Edinburgh to London. When the woman dies on the train, Hester is charged with murder because she administered a lethal dose of medicine. Monk travels to Edinburgh to discover the real murderer.
