The original book was printed in 1896 and limited to 425 copies. The facsimile edition was published in 1958 with the original 87 illustrations by Edward Burne-Jones.
Chaucer is best known for The Canterbury Tales, which was one of the first major works in literature written in English. He is also credited with introducing iambic pentameter and the Rhyme Royal to English poetry.
