Folly is a book by Laurie R. King. It's the story of Rae Newborn, a woman who has endured more than anyone should have to. She's spent time in a psychiatric hospital, and her relationship with her older daughter has been spoiled by severe postpartum depression. Her younger daughter and husband were killed by a drunk driver. Rae has attempted suicide twice, most recently within the past year.

Rae moves to an island to restore the house of her great-uncle. As her life begins to rebuild itself along with the house, his story starts to wrap around hers. Powerful forces are stirring, but Rae cannot see where her reality leaves.

Folly is a psychological thriller set on a fictional addition to the San Juan Island chain in Washington state.
