"The Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman" is an Oz short story written by L. Frank Baum, first published in 1913. It is one of the sextet of Little Wizard Stories of Oz.

Summary
It is a tale of the adventures of the Scarecrow and Tin Woodman when they go boating in the Scarecrow's corncob-shaped boat. When the boat hits a rock, the Tin Woodman plunges to the bottom of a stream. The Scarecrow tries to fish him out, with the advice of a flock of crows; but the crows are malicious pranksters, and the two friends end up suspended in a tree.

Fortunately, the Wizard of Oz happens to pass by, riding the Sawhorse; he rescues the two, and oils up the Tin Man's joints so that he doesn't succumb to rust.
