Murder at the Vicarage is a 1930 detective novel by Agatha Christie. It is the first Miss Marple mystery and is told from the perspective of the vicar.
The story is about the murder of Colonel Lucius Protheroe, a man who was so despised that multiple people confess to the crime. The vicar finds Protheroe's body shot in his study and becomes involved in the murder investigation. He is aided by his neighbor, Miss Marple.
The police gather clues and find a note from Protheroe that contradicts the time of death. Two people are arrested for the murder but are exonerated soon after. Miss Marple has some suspects in mind but she isn't sure who the killer is.
